Disclosed is a method and apparatus for producing a thermally insulating cover (28). The method comprises: providing a tool (10); positioning material (18) to be cured on a mould surface of the tool (10), thereby providing an assembly (16); attaching a plurality of temperature sensors (20) to the assembly (16) such that they have a spaced apart relationship to each other; heating the assembly (16) to cure the material (18); measuring temperatures experienced by the temperature sensors (20) during the heating process; using the temperature measurements, identifying regions of the assembly (16) that experience different heat-up rates to one another; and producing a thermally insulating cover (28) adapted to fit over the assembly (16), the cover (28) configured to provide different levels of thermal insulation to each of the identified regions of the assembly (16). |
