The layer composed of a complex compound of Ti, Al, B, C and N has an average composition of a composition formula TiAlBCN(where a, b, c and d are all by atom%; 30&le;a&le;50; 0<b<1; 0.05&le;c&le;0.5; and 45&le;d&le;55) and consists of TiAlBCN particles of an average particle width of 0.1-2 &mu;m and an average aspect ratio of 5 or higher and Ti boride particles present around the TiAlBCN particles.
