Provided are a multiplex communication system and a work machine that can appropriately implement data exchange between a processing circuit used in an industrial network and a multiplex processing unit that multiplexes and transmits control data to be transmitted through the industrial network. A slave 33 processes control data in an industrial network (for example, EtherCAT (Registered Trademark)). The control data processed by the slave 33 are transmitted and received through multiplex communications performed by a multiplex processing unit 61. A DUMMY-PHY 67A is connected between the multiplex processing unit 61 and the slave 33, uses a pseudo signal generation unit 117 to generate, in a pseudo manner, a signal compliant with a standard of MII communications, and transmits the generated signal to the slave 33, thereby executing the establishment of a communication. After establishing the communication with the slave 33, the DUMMY-PHY 67A performs data transfer between the multiplex processing unit 61 and the slave 33. |
