PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator that can inhibit careless stop of the elevator due to the self diagnosis of a safety device.SOLUTION: An elevator 1 includes pulse generators 13a, 13b, position detection switches 14a, 14b, a safety circuit relay 17, a control device 18 and a safety device 40. The pulse generators 13a, 13b output lifting/lowering operation signals indicating a lifting/lowering operation of the elevator 1. The position detection switches 14a, 14b are disposed in a hoistway, leaving a gap to detect a position of a car 6. The safety device 40 is disposed independently of the control device 18. The control device 18 outputs a first signal indicating whether or not the elevator 1 is in a car close stop waiting state. CPUs 46a, 46b of the safety device 40 determine whether or not an abnormality that poses a problem for a safe operation of the elevator including adhesion of a contact occurs on the basis of the lifting/lowering operation signals and the first signal, when the elevator 1 is not in a traveling state and is in the car close stop waiting state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
