PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly that can accurately form the shape of an electrode layer without giving any mechanical damage to an electrolyte membrane for a fuel battery.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly 10 that forms a fuel battery electrode layer 22 on a base material 41 and transferring the fuel battery electrode layer 22 onto a fuel battery electrolyte membrane 11, comprises an electrode layer forming step of forming the fuel battery electrode layer 22 on a first base material layer 41, an incision forming step of making an incision from the fuel battery electrode layer 22 side by cutting means 53 so that the incision reaches a second base material layer 42, whereby an incision having a predetermined shape is formed in the fuel battery electrode layer 22 and the first base material layer 41, and a removing step of exfoliating and removing an outer portion 45 having a predetermined shape from the second base material 42.EFFECT: When the fuel battery electrolyte layer is transferred onto the fuel battery electrolyte membrane, the outer peripheral edge of the electrode layer does not bite into the fuel battery electrolyte membrane, so that no mechanical damage is given to the fuel battery electrolyte membrane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
