Negative working, heat-sensitive lithographic printing plate precursor

A heat-sensitive negative-working lithographic printing plate precursor is disclosed including
- a grained and anodized aluminium support, and
- a coating provided thereon, said coating containing an image-recording layer which comprises hydrophobic thermoplastic polymer particles, a binder and an infrared absorbing dye characterized in that the grained and anodized surface of the support has a CIE 1976 L*-value between 55 and 75.
