The metal joined body is formed by forming a first tapered portion (16) on a side wall surface of an opening (13) of a ring-shaped metal member (12), forming a multistage joining surface on the first tapered portion (16), providing a second tapered portion (17) having the same angle of chamfer as the first tapered portion (16) of the ring-shaped metal member (12) at the leading end of a cylindrical portion of a cylindrical metal member (11) to be pressed into the opening (13) of the ring-shaped metal member (12), pressing the cylindrical portion of the cylindrical metal member (11) into the opening (13) of the ring-shaped metal member (12), passing a current therethrough, causing a side wall section of the cylindrical portion of the cylindrical metal member (11) and the multistage joining surface of the first tapered portion (16) to undergo plastic flow, and thereby joining the ring-shaped metal member (12) and the cylindrical metal member (11).
