A blood glucose meter achieving both high functionality and simplicity is provided, which easily differentiates between measurement of blood glucose level and check of past blood glucose levels by using a minimum number of operation buttons. A cap that protects an optical measuring unit of the blood glucose meter is provided and a micro switch that detects a state in which the cap is attached to or removed from the housing is provided. When an input/output control unit detects that the cap is removed from the housing, the input/output control unit moves from a power saving mode to a measuring mode. |
