An apparatus for determining flow through a fluid conduit e.g. a domestic water pipe, the apparatus comprising: a sensor head arranged to hold a first temperature sensor 10, 12 against an outer surface of the pipe, the first temperature sensor arranged to generate a first signal indicative of the temperature of the outer surface; a second temperature sensor 11, 13 arranged to be positioned spaced apart from the first temperature sensor and to generate a second signal indicative of the ambient temperature outside the pipe; and a processor which has an output for the flow determination and is arranged to make the flow determination by determining a measure of the convergence of the first and second temperatures over time. The apparatus may comprise a sensor head and a housing that are joined by a flexible cable which transmits at least one of the first and second temperature signals. Also disclosed is a plurality of data capture devices, a plurality of mobile telecommunication devices and a central server. |
