A protein powder formed into a solid shape such as a disc, cube or sphere, by using a die and high pressure to compress the powder in the die. The formed shaped is coated with a water soluble material to maintain the shape of the powder during transit. The coating is a food grade water soluble coating such as methocel (RTM) cellulose ethers or hydroxypropylcellulose, which will dissolve once the solid protein powder, is placed in the chosen liquid medium, allowing the protein powder to be mixed into the chosen liquid by shaking or blending. Alternatively depending on the mechanical strength of the compacted powder, the coating may not be required. The protein powder may be whey, soya, egg and the like. |
