PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and an image forming apparatus, which can prevent reflected light from a document from being fluctuated.SOLUTION: An image reader includes: a transportation path on which a document is transported; a light transmission member which is arranged on a document reading position which is previously set on the transportation path and in which the passing document is read and through which light can transmit; a light source which is arranged on an opposite side of the transportation path across the light transmission member and irradiates the document which passes the document reading position with light passing the light transmission member; a reading section which reads the document in a main scanning direction orthogonal to a passing direction in response to reflected light from the document passing the document reading position; a first reflection section which is arranged on the opposite side of the light transmission member across the transportation path and is inclined by an angle with which light from the light source is reflected to the reading section much more than light reflected on the document when the document does not exist in the document reading position; and a second reflection section which is arranged in the main scanning direction with the first reflection section and reflects the light in a position closer to the light transmission member than the first reflection section. |
