[Class 83 (iii)] A loose headstock of a lathe is provided with an eccentrically journalled roller for clamping the headstock to the lathe-bed, the roller being located between two slide faces in the bed; in one position the roller engages one slide face and clamps the stock, and in the other position engages the opposing face and lifts the headstock from the bed. As shown, four rollers 12 on eccentric pins 13 support the headstock 17 on slides 24 and are moved by levers 22 tu engage slides 23, thus clamping the headstock against the bed faces 19, 21. |
