[Class 40 (ii)] The cutting face of the recording stylus of a gramophone is so angularly oriented that throughoutsubstantially the entire recording movement of the stylus said face urges the cut material inward. As shown by Fig. 6, the stylus 18 has a cutting point in the form of a bevelled chisel 12 with a flat face 10. The shank of the stylus has an indexing-flat 11 adapted to be clamped by a screw 13, Fig. 2, to the armature 14 of a cutting head 15 on an arm 7 pivoted at 17, Fig. 1, the arrangement being such that the cutting face 10 is always slightly inclined to the radius from the centre 4 of the turntable 3 so as to urge the cut material inward. A scrubber 22 may be attached by a spring 23 to the cutting head to help push the cut material inward.,</p> |
