PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of selecting malt suited for applications to barley breeding, which allows processing many specimens through a simple operation in a short time and selecting malt with a high BDAI-1 content with high reliability.SOLUTION: A method of selecting barley for malt sparkling beverage excellent in foam durability includes identifying a gene type for at least one of DNA markers specified by achieving multiple sequence alignment between (a) a base sequence in a region around the locus of a Group I barley dimeric alpha-amylase inhibitor-1 and (b) a base sequence in a region around the locus of a Group II barley dimeric α-amylase inhibitor-1, and selecting a specimen barley that matches the locus of the Group I as barley for malt sparkling beverage. |
