PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boron nitride containing a metal oxide which has excellent kneadability with resins and applicability to a variety of moldings and allows improvement of the thickness-direction thermal conductivity in moldings, and its producing method.SOLUTION: A boron nitride containing a metal oxide includes boron nitride and at least one metal oxide selected from those of yttrium, cerium, ytterbium and magnesium. A method of producing the boron nitride containing a metal oxide includes mixing boron nitride, a compound of the metal and carbon and heat-treating the resultant mixture in an atmosphere of a non-oxidative gas. The inclusion of the specified metal oxide allows h-BN to form a strong coagulated structure, and the coagulated structure does not collapse even when kneaded with a resin. Use of the boron nitride containing a metal oxide as a thermal conductive filler substantially improves the thermal conductivity of a molding in the thickness direction. |
