A gear position detecting device includes a sensor device (30) that senses an amount of displacement of a shift cable (40), and a cycle computer (10) that calculates a gear position corresponding to a sprocket being used, based on the amount of displacement of the shift cable (40) sensed by the sensor device (30), and displays the gear position. The cycle computer (10) and the sensor device (30) can be attached to and detached from a bicycle. The cycle computer (10) has a function of converting a voltage drop across a variable resistor (33) into a gear position of the bicycle. The sensor device (30) has a housing (31) fixed to the bicycle, the variable resistor (33) accommodated in the housing (31), and an arm (32) that is attached to the variable resistor and moves relative to the housing (31) along with displacement of the shift cable (40). |
