PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backrest for improving strength and beauty, and also to provide a chair including the backrest.SOLUTION: A back frame includes a side frame 8, an upper frame 9, and a lower frame 10. The side frame 8 has vertically long grooves 20 and is opened forward. A back plate 6 includes side members, an upper member 17, and a lower member. The side members have groove shapes opened backward. Second engagement pawls 31 are formed in the vertically long grooves 20 of the side frame 8, and first engagement pawls 30 are formed in the side members of the back plate 6. The engagement pawls 30, 31 are arranged in the vertically long grooves 20 so as to allow a backrest to be assembled with a simple fitting system. |
