The present invention relates to a technology about a battery charging apparatus for a green car and a battery charging method thereof. The present invention comprises: an inverter for receiving single phase AC voltage through a power system and converting the single phase AC voltage into DC voltage; a converter control unit for receiving a current command from the outside, detecting error current corresponding to the difference between the current command and charge current flowing in the battery, extracting a forward compensation component corresponding to the size of a ripple component included in the charge current from the error current and generating a switching control signal based on the error current and the forward compensation component; and a converter for raising the DC voltage according to the switching control signal and outputting the raised DC voltage to the battery. |
