[Class 20 (ii)] A clamp for coupling scaffolding members 10, ' 13 comprises a hooked member 8, Figs. 1, 2, and clamp 12 of flat material, the hooked member having a flange 11 lying between the scaffolding member 10 and the clamp 12, gripping engagement between the scaffolding members 10, 13 being applied by a nut 16 and bolt 15 passing through the flange 11 and clamp 12. The bolt may have a square neck or may be a force fit in the flange 11 or welded thereto to prevent rotation, and the end of the bolt may be riveted over to prevent separation of parts by withdrawal of the nut. The flange 11 is so dimensioned as to coact with the arm 9 of the clamp to avoid relative rotation of the hook and clamp. The hook may take the form of two spaced hooks 18, Fig. 3, with a coupling flange 11, or may consist of a pair of such members tightened by two nuts and bolts engaging the flanges on the hook members and the end lugs of a clamping member. The clamp groove may be formed for coupling the scaffolding members other than at right angles. |
