565,141. Dynamo-electric machines. WARDT, J. C. DE. May 4, 1943, No. 7040. [Class 35] A dynamo-electric machine, stated to deliver direct current when used as a generator and to operate from direct current when used as a motor, comprises stationary ring wound armatures F, F<SP>1</SP> located between magnet poles of opposite polarity and carried by wheels B, B<SP>1</SP> which are rotated at equal speeds in opposite directions by gearing D and differential coupling E. The polarity of the different magnets, which may be either permanent or electromagnets, is as shown and the inner armature may be omitted, the wheels carrying the poles then being provided with hubs or hollow central bosses to form complementary parts of a split magnetic yoke. Each armature winding comprises (a) short coils, Fig. 3, connected in series and arranged at points where the poles on opposite sides of the armature pass one another, and (b) longer coils arranged between the short coils and connected in series both with one another and the short coils. The direction of winding of the long coils is opposite to that of the short coils. |
