[Class 89 (ii)] Hooks for attaching scaling-ladders to the gunwales of lifeboats, barges, &c., comprise an L-shaped member of which one limb 4 rests on the top of the gunwale, whilst the other carries at its end an eye 6 to which the ladder is attached. A fitting 8 is adjustably mounted on the limb 4 to suit the width of gunwale. In a modification, the eye is offset on the other side of the limb 5 which then rests on top of the gunwale. In this case the fitting may also be of L-shape and in two relatively adjustable parts to fit under the inner side of the gunwale and to be adjustable for the depth thereof. |
