[Class 82 (ii)] In a flotation process for the recovery, segregation or separation of mineral or other concentrates, there is introduced into the ore pulp &c. under treatment a flotation reagent comprising one or more of the oils or substances volatile in a current of steam and present in the Mexicanmarigold known as Tagetes minuta lenin or in botanically-related species such as Tagetes erecta (afrikaners) or present in a solvent extract of the plant. The agent may be added in proportions ranging from a trace, through roughly to 0.13 lb. to 5 lb. or more per ton of material treated. The reagent may be fed into the pulp just before its entry into the flotation machine or in stages and is induced to form a froth by agitation or aeration, or both, under such conditions of pH values and density of pulp as are favourable to the flotation of the mineral &c. being treated. The agitation and/or aeration is .carried out in the presence of a collecting agent, e.g. xanthates and the reagent may be fed into the grinding circuit.</p> |
