In these cases the majority of time the external wall is constructed first and the internal wall is completed afterwards. The profile poles used to construct the internal wall are usually supported by a clamp that attaches to the top of the previously constructed, external wall and reaches across the cavity and supports a profile set up for the internal wall. This is a very efficient and simple way to set the profile without cluttering the site with un-necessary profile braces or timber struts. There is a problem with the current clamp in that the internal wall is usually higher than the external wall by as many as 3 corses (260mm). This means when the internal wall reaches the height of the external wall the clamp becomes an obstruction and must be removed. The bricklayer must then find alternative means to support the profile while he completes the last few corses. This is all un-necessary time wasting and inconvenience. Especially if they are working from a scaffold as this can often also be in the way. The over reach brick clamp alleviates this issue by supporting the profile at a higher point above the clamped external wall allowing the bricklayer to start and finish the internal wall without having to re-set the profile.
