566,097. Buoyant suits. SIEDLECKI, Z., and SIEBE, GORMAN, & CO., Ltd. June 7, 1943, No. 9147. Addition to 557,220. [Class 141] The invention mainly comprises means for improving the sealing of the edge of the face opening in the hood of a buoyant suit according to the parent Specification, around the lower part of the face of the wearer. For this purpose, pads of sponge rubber or like resilient material are incorporated into the suit. either on the inner side of elastic flaps 2, 3 of the hood, or on the upper edge of wall of trunk of suit to contact the underside of the chin. The pads 11, 12 abut on a line which is a continuation of the access opening of the suit so that the sliding clasp fastener which fastens the suit may also close or compress the edges of the pads together. The fastener may be of the water-excluding kind described in Specification 557,418, [Group XXV]. Adjustable strap fastenings may be provided on the garment under the chin, along the centre line of crown of hood and around the back of the hood at the level of the bottom, to adjust it to size of wearer. Gloves or mittens on the sleeves of the garment may have a water-tight connection therewith and the garment may be provided with a handle and strap to hold it in a folded, closed position, in which form it may serve as a lifebuoy. Alternatively, in emergency, the garment may be wound round the body of a person and secured thereto by hook or like fastening means to serve as a lifebuoy. |
