The present invention relates to an optical glass and an optical element. An object of the present invention is to cheaperly obtain the optical glass and an optical element which have refractive index (nd) and Abbe number ([niu]d) within a desired range and the devitrification resistance. The optical glass of the present invention, by mass, comprising 10.0-40.0% of B2O3 component, 25.0-55.0% of La2O3 composition, and more than 0% of Y2O3 component mass ratio Y2O3 / (Y2O3 + Gd2O3 ) of 0.500 or more, the optical glass having 39 or more of Abbe number ([niu]d).
