PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing erroneous detection of the accumulation of waster toner.SOLUTION: A waste toner housing part 39 has an opening 393 formed in an upper end portion 392 for receiving toner discharged from an image forming part. A partition plate 7 divides the waste toner housing part 39 into a first space 392A and a second space 392B, where the former allows toner from the opening 393 to pass while the latter allows no toner from the opening 393 to pass at the upper end portion 392 of the waste toner housing part 39. A light emission part 81 illuminates light toward the second space 392B from outside of the waste toner housing part 39. A first reflection part 82 is disposed inside the second space 392B and reflects light emitted from the light emission part 81. A first optical reception part 83 receives reflective light headed toward outside of the waste toner housing part 39 from the first reflection part 82. A control part detects an accumulation state of toner accumulated in the waste toner housing part 39 on the basis of the reception result of the first optical reception part 83. |
