HIGH CONCENTRATION ORGANIC WASTE WATER TREATING METHOD AND APPARATUS

Organic wastewater is treated by (a) passing it through a 0.2-0.3 H lower portion of a vessel of height H to form a thick hard sludge blanket in the lower portion; (b) passing it through several medium layers in the middle of the vessel, the medium layers are inclined at an angle of 55-65 deg.; and (c) passing it through a 0.1-0.2 H upper portion of the vessel. The velocity of the flow is 0.5-2.5 m/day for 1-5 days. The water originally has BOD 3,000- 30,000 ppm (claimed). It is alcohol, grape fermentation, beer, coffee or starch waste water. Process effectively concentrates organic waste water and removes contaminants from the blanked and medium layers (claimed). The process is rapid, inexpensive and environmentally desirable.
