A driven (16) adjuster (15) sets the spacing (A) between two cutters (11, 12). The adjuster drive includes a cylinder located between first and second cutter carriers. The displacement of the first carrier relative to the second, is guided along the line of spacing (A) between cutters. The carriers move relative to the cutter (10) frame. In moving between positions of maximum- and minimum displacement, the cutter carrier is limited in its travel, by adjustable stops. A second drive (36) is included. It displaces the cutter (10) in a direction transverse to the line of spacing (A). This drive (36) is divided in two. Its first unit (31), causes movement between two cutting positions. Its second unit (33) causes movement between a cutting position and a neutral position, in which the cutters are disengaged from the pieces of sewing aligned with the position stop (7). |
