[Class 39 (i)] In a light source utilising the luminosity of silicon or other carbide under the influence of an electric current, the carbide crystals are situated between a pair of electrodes 1 and 2, one of which is a reflector. The crystals may be embedded in an aluminium plate forming one electrode and the other electrode may be an open mesh screen of wire gauze embedded in transparent plastic material. The electrodes may be made as convex, concave, or cylindrical surfaces, and the light may be directed by louvres which may form one of the electrodes. A plate electrode may have crystals on both sides and be sandwiched between two gauze electrodes. U.S.A. Specification 2,254,957 is referred to. |
