METHOD FOR MONITORING TRUNK PIPELINE CONDITION

The method is designed to be used in systems for monitoring the condition of trunk pipelines transporting oil, gas or other substances. By means of the method, the presence of high mains voltage in electric circuits of the trunk pipeline control system is obviated, and the necessity of using high-voltage intercoupler devices is eliminated. All cathodic protection units in the monitoring stations are connected, through their single-phase transformers with network line voltage to the same wires of two phases of the cathodic protection power transmission line, and this line is set to an open-phase operating mode. The free phase wire of the cathodic protection power transmission line operating in the open-phase mode is disconnected from the mains and connected to transceivers for wire communication located in the central station and monitoring stations. The method allows pipeline condition monitoring without using relatively expensive intercoupler devices in monitoring system circuits.
