A system management device (1) has: a data request transmission unit (5) for sequentially transmitting data request signals (C5) to a managed system (50); a characteristic data extraction unit (6) for extracting characteristic data (D3) from data (D50) acquired by a data acquisition unit (3); an error information extraction unit (7) for extracting error information from data; a characteristic data retention unit (8) for storing the characteristic data at the time of an error occurrence, as error occurrence characteristic data (D6), on the basis of the extracted error information; and a system control unit (9) for comparing a state value included in the characteristic data (D3) of acquired data every time that data is acquired and a state value included in the error occurrence characteristic data (D6) already stored in the characteristic data retention unit (8), and controlling the managed system (50) in accordance with the results of this comparison.
