PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater controller of a gas sensor configured to prevent reduction in sensor response performance.SOLUTION: A heater controller of a gas sensor includes a sensor element, a porous protective layer for covering at least a part of the sensor element, and a heater part for heating the sensor element. The heater controller controls temperature increase in the heater part of the gas sensor arranged in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine. The heater controller executes normal temperature increase processing (S13) for increasing the temperature of the sensor element to a normal control temperature; and special temperature increase processing (S11) for performing special temperature increase control, unlike the normal temperature increase processing, for removing a particulate matter entering the gas sensor at a predetermined timing. |
