发明名称 Improvements in and relating to metal cutting or like machine tools
摘要 568,213. Turning; machine framings. WARNER & SWASEY CO. Aug. 9, 1943, No. 12854. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1942. [Class 83 (iii)] In a metal-cutting or like machine tool such as a lathe, provision is made for passing a temperature-controlling medium round part of the machine in order to limit variations in temperature which might cause distortion of the machine framing &c. As applied to a lathe, the headstock comprising end walls 40, 41 and front and back walls 36, 38 has outer plates 61, 66, preferably of heat-insulating material, secured in spaced relation to the walls 36, 38 to form passages 62, 67 through which air may be drawn to control the temperature of the headstock. The air enters at apertures 58, 65 at the base of the plates 61, 66 and passes upwards to a space 69 between the headstock cover 48 and a third plate 68 similar to the plates 61, 66, and thence proceeds round the spindle bearings 45, 46 to an interior compartment C of the headstock which forms a sump for the lubricating oil. The air is drawn from the compartment C by a fan 79 driven by an electric motor 73 attached by a flange mounting 77 to the headstock wall 41. The lubricating oil pump 35 draws oil by a pipe 49 from the base of compartment C and discharges it through. a radiator 52 to spray nozzles 57 from which it cascades over the shafts and gearing 30, the air passing over the radiator 52 serving to cool the oil before use. The plates 61, 66 are spaced from the walls 36, 38 by flanges projecting laterally from the latter and rest on steps 60 of the flanges.
