[Class 39 (i)] The electrodes of electrostatic gas cleaning apparatus are formed of glass rods which may be coated with a metal such as lead, or left uncoated, the deposition of the material suspended in the gas, such as sulphuric acid, being relied on to provide the necessary degree of conductivity. A number of rods may be connected together in the form of a chain, being provided with hooks 6, Fig. 3, and eyes 5, Fig. 5, at opposite ends for this purpose. The upper rod has a ball end 2, Fig. 5, engaging a slotted socket 12 in a hook member 8 for suspension on a support 9 ; the lowest rod has a hook 7, Fig. 3, for attachment of a weight. The hook member 8 may have a metal coating over its whole surface or localised on the part contacting with the electrode and support. |
