[Class 120 (ii)] A spool-holder of the centrifugal type has jaws 7, 8 pivoted by shoulders 9 which bear against shoulders 6 of a sleeve 4 so that upon rotation the heavier rear portions 7 of the jaws move outwardly and the lighter portions 8 clamp inwardly on to a spool flange 17, Fig. 1. A counterholder 18 which gives additional support to the spool during rotation is taken out of position before the spindle ceases to revolve and permits a helical spring 16, compressed during winding, to discharge the full spool, Fig. 2, as the clamping effect of the jaws 8 is reduced. |
