A media asset is displayed on a navigation page or screen, such as a webpage or a folder, and an initial audio volume is determined. The media assets may include TV programs, pay-per-view, on-demand, VOD, Internet content such as webcasts, video, audio, pictures, documents, playlists, websites, articles, books, blogs, social media, advertisements, games, etc. A first distance is measured between the media asset, and a first position, which may be represented by the position of the scroll bar or cursor. A user then navigates from the first location to a second location, where the media file is partially viewable. The proximity of the second position to the media asset is determined. If the second position is closer to the media file than the first position, then the volume level is increased. An embodiment is for a video on a webpage; based on the initial cursor/scroll bar position, the audio will be output at a certain volume. When the cursor or scroll bar is moved, the distance between that and the video will be checked, and if the cursor is closer to the video, then the volume increases. |
