A progressive cavity pump 48 comprising an armoring 4 with a suction opening 12 and a discharge opening 16, a stator 6 attached to the inside of the armoring, a housing 28 delimited between the armoring and the stator and a helicoidal rotor 8 arranged in the stator, where the rotor is rotationally driven for moving the fluid 38. The progressive cavity pump also comprises at least one inlet orifice 30, 32 opening into the housing and onto the suction opening and at least one outlet orifice 34, 36 opening into the housing and onto the discharge opening, where a solid and permeable obstruction material 52 fills the housing such that the fluid can pass through it. The obstruction material may include granular or fibrous material and the suction and discharge openings may have filtering devices 50. |
