PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for reducing the deterioration of line quality in an output image in a convenient manner while maintaining the stability of density characteristics of the output image and a control method thereof.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus creates a LUT_2 for correcting a laser output signal value after the correction using a LUT_1 for a γ correction, depending on the density change amount from the reference density value of the density value measured from a test pattern image formed on a photosensitive drum. The image forming apparatus performs the γ correction using the LUT_1 and the LUT_2 for developing colors other than a predetermined low-brightness developing color. Meanwhile, for the predetermined low-brightness developing color, when the laser output signal value corresponding to a predetermined high density level after the γ correction using two LUTs is equal to or lower than a first threshold value, the image forming apparatus performs a laser light amount correction instead of the γ correction using the LUT_2. |
