PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat reservation system capable of determining if a seat is available or not even to an Internet reservation out of business hours (off-line hours).SOLUTION: A seat reservation system has an off-line hour system to be operated during off-line hours (night-time), and the off-line hour system replies to a reservation request during the off-line hours. The off-line hour system has its own off-line hours in the day-time. For vacancy information necessary for replying to the reservation request during the night-time, the off-line hour system uses the number of remaining seats of each train at a time when the seat reservation system for the day-time turns into an off-line state, and the number of remaining seats are those of the farthest service section of each train. To the reservation request, the off-line hour system refers to the number of remaining seats and only provides availability of a seat. If a seat is available to the reservation request, the off-line hour system decrements the number of remaining seats of the train. The off-line hour system continues to accept reservation requests until the number of remaining seats becomes 0. |
