[Class 78 (i)] Relates to apparatus for conveying and treating tins and like objects, e.g. for enamelling, lacquering, degreasing, &c., comprising a conveyer or conveyer chain having a number of depending carriers which hold the tins and carry them through a dipping-bath. According to the invention each carrier consists of a member 12, Fig. 3, pivotally supporting a pair of downwardly-extending arms 14, 15 forming gripping-jaws connected by a tension spring 17 to provide a spring-operated caliper grip, the tin to be treated being inserted between the jaws in opposition to the tension of the spring and being released therefrom by gripping together extensions of the arms. As shown, the conveyer, which moves along guides 3, Fig. 1, and extends around pulleys 8, 9, 10 has transverse, carrier-supporting rods with end rollers running in the guides. The tins are attached to the carriers at point C, dipped in the elongated bath 1, carried upwardly to allow them to drip into the bath, subsequently dried by the use, if desired, of hot'air, and removed from the conveyer at point D. |
