[Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XII] Refractory plate units a especially applicable to furnaces and adapted to be assembled to form hearths, dampers and other parts of furnaces are formed with stepped tongues a<1> and recesses a<2>, Fig. 5, which engage with corresponding recesses and tongues of adjacent units when assembled as shown in Fig. 7. Suitable clearance is provided between adjacent units to allow for expansion. The units are formed of high resistant metal or alloy such as steel or nickel chromium steel. Some of the units may be provided with flanges a3, Figs. 2, 3, to form the vertical sides or boundaries of a structure such as a hearth. |
