A method for producing a sheet-like member in which highly stretchable areas and poorly stretchable areas having lower stretchability than that of the highly stretchable areas as measured in a predetermined direction are arranged in a side-by-side configuration in the predetermined direction. The method comprises: delivering a composite sheet in the predetermined direction that corresponds to a delivery direction, wherein the composite sheet is set at least in areas corresponding to the highly stretchable areas while inserting elastic members, which are continued in the predetermined direction, between first continuous sheets and second continuous sheets, both of which are continued in the predetermined direction, in such a manner that the elastic members can be stretched in the predetermined direction; pinching areas corresponding to the poorly stretchable areas in the composite sheet and then cutting the elastic members, thereby forming the highly stretchable areas and the poorly stretchable areas in a side-by-side configuration in the delivery direction in the composite sheet; and forming at least one compressing part in the composite sheet in such a manner that said at least one compressing part overlaps at least one pinching mark formed by pinching the composite sheet in the aforementioned formation process. |
