A method for controlling a device (101) by user gestures, the device (101) comprising a processing unit (110) connected to a sensor (103) configured to measure a depth of a monitored region in front of the device (101), the method being characterized by performing the following steps by the processing unit (110): determining a detection plane (102) for the device (101) in a three-dimensional space; acquiring an image of the monitored region received from the sensor (103); determining, in the acquired image, a first reference point (106, 107) and its position in the three-dimensional space; determining, in the acquired image, a second reference point (105, 108) and its position in the three-dimensional space; generating a straight line that passes through the first reference point (106, 107) and the second reference point (105, 108); and checking if the straight line intersects the detection plane (102) and if so, calling a command for the controlled device (101). |
