PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce capacity of a line memory for storing image data for one scanning line to each light emitting element in an image forming apparatus which performs resolution conversion processing for increasing resolution of acquired image data in a main scanning direction, supplies the image data to a light emitting device having the plurality of light emitting elements and scans an image holder.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image data acquisition section (201); a light emitting device (19) having a plurality of light emitting elements which emit a plurality of light beams for scanning an image holder in a main scanning direction; a line memory (203) which acquires image data from the image data acquisition section and includes capacity which stores the image data of one scanning line for the amount of the whole light emitting elements of the light emitting device at every light emitting element; a resolution conversion section (204) for reading the image data for each light emitting element from the line memory and performing resolution conversion to increase resolution of the image data which is read in the main scanning direction; and a drive circuit (141) for driving the light emitting device in response to the image data after the resolution conversion. |
