PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FRP vehicle bumper beam which is compact and light-weight and has high strength.SOLUTION: An FRP bumper beam 19 has at least one or more main body section 31 which has a cross section in an almost W-shape formed by vertically combining at least two or more U-shaped cross sectional portions 33 extended in a vehicle width direction and directing openings thereof toward an input side of an impact load. Because upper walls 33a, lower walls 33b and bottom walls 33c of the U-shaped cross sectional portions 33 are connected through a plurality of vertical ribs 33f which are vertically extended, the vertical ribs 33f and a connection wall 32a prevent the upper walls 33a and the lower walls 33b from moving apart from each other when the impact load is input. Thus, energy absorbing effect can be exerted by efficiently transferring the impact load from the U-shaped cross sectional portions 33 to a bumper beam extension 18. In addition, by vertically combining the two U-shaped cross sectional portions 33, an energy absorbing amount can be increased while minimizing a longitudinal dimension of the bumper beam 19. |
