Disclosed are a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate in which the absorption axis is oriented accurately in a predetermined direction and a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal panel. A method for manufacturing a polarizing plate according to an embodiment of the present invention is a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate (10) in which the absorption axis (SA) is oriented in a predetermined direction, the method including: an starting-plate-absorption-axis detecting step (S14) for detecting the direction of the absorption axis in a polarizing-plate starting plate (22); and a machining step (S16) for obtaining the polarizing plate (10) by machining the polarizing-plate starting plate, wherein, in the machining step (S16), the polarizing-plate starting plate (22) is machined such that the absorption axis (SA) detected in the starting-plate-absorption-axis detecting step (S14) becomes oriented in the predetermined direction in the polarizing plate (10) to be obtained. |
