[Class 46] A funnel for pouring petrol or like liquid fuel into a fuel tank is provided with a false bottom 2 formed with apertures 7 which are covered by a detachable filter. The filter, as shown, comprises concentric rings 8 of perforated material located between end plates 9, 10 with intervening layers 11 of resilient material. The rings 8 are covered with fine copper gauze or silk electro-plated with silver or other metal. Instead of the layers 11 packing rings of U-section may be provided. The filter is held in place by a bolt 12 and wing nut 13. Any water in the fuel is drained away when there is sufficient to operate a ball valve 20, Fig. 5, connected to a float 22. |
