A gesture control device (10) for use with a controllable device (20) is provided, wherein said gesture control device enables controlling a magnitude (M) of a perceivable output (O) of the controllable device within a predetermined magnitude range according to a magnitude control gesture. The gesture control device includes a gesture control interface (12) to recognize gestures and to provide an detection signal (D) indicative of recognized gestures. The gesture control device further includes a magnitude control unit (14) for in response to said detection signal (D) generating a device control signal indicative for the magnitude (I) of the perceivable output (O). The gesture control interface (12) is capable of recognizing at least one sub-range select gesture that corresponds to a selection by said magnitude control unit (14) of a magnitude sub-range of said predetermined magnitude range and the magnitude control unit (14) limits the controlled magnitude to within said magnitude sub-range.
