The system (10) has an endoscopic or minimal invasive surgical instrument (12) provided with tool elements (14, 16). The instrument has a shaft (24), at whose distal end one of the tool elements (14) is arranged. The other tool element (16) is brought from an operating position into a displacement position. A surface area of a perpendicular projection of the latter tool element (16) to a projection level is smaller in the displacement position than that in the operating position. The projection level runs perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (54) in an area of the latter tool element (16).
