摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the particle diameter of catalytic metal particles supported on an oxide carrier to a narrow particle distribution and a size suitable for a catalytic reaction.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a catalyst which comprises: a step of forming a noble metal supporting catalyst by carrying one or two or more noble metal particles selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium and rhodium on one or two or more oxide carriers selected from the group consisting of titanium oxide, zirconium oxide and cerium oxide; and a step of controlling the particle diameter of noble metals carried on the noble metal supporting catalyst within a predetermined range by subjecting the noble metal supporting catalyst to heat treatment at a temperature exceeding 550°C and 700°C or less in a non-reducing atmosphere containing 0 vol.% or more and 5 vol.% or less of oxygen.SELECTED DRAWING: None
